To create a new budget scenario, choose New Scenario on the Analyze capability panel.
Name your new scenario. Next, choose a scenario type: limited budget or backlog.
In a limited budget scenario, SAM IS Pavement analyzes the impact of a user-defined funding limit on the pavement network over a specified number of years. Choose a treatment/repair strategy and then a starting date. You quickly define a budget by using the starting budget amount and number of years; then click Generate Budget. You can optionally set an inflation rate to be factored in to subsequent years.
To enter a single new budget record, choose New and specify the record details.
Additionally, you may use the Edit or Delete buttons to manage selected budget records.
For each budget record, you can designate specific treatments/repairs to the pavement segments.
Similarly, for each budget year, a treatment/repair category may be applied.
The Selection drop down menu will contain all global selections in the SAM IS Pavement configuration. Additionally, any previously-established selection criteria for scenarios will be listed.
A backlog scenario allocates unlimited funding to provide every needed treatment/repair to the pavement network. In so doing, this scenario provides a snapshot of the needed treatments/repairs throughout the entire network, irrespective of budget or time.
When you have finished defining the scenario, choose Save on the Scenario Builder to add the scenario to the system.
